New Year: New Resoulutions? New Disappointments?

It's a whole bright shiny not yet tarnished NEW YEAR! I am going to let you in on a little secret...I don't do resolutions! What the heck is a resolution anyway?

res·o·lu·tion   /ˌrɛzəˈluʃən/

[rez-uh-loo-shuhn] –noun
1. a formal expression of opinion or intention made, usually after voting, by a formal organization, a legislature, a club, or other group. Compare concurrent resolution, joint resolution.
2. a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.
3. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
4. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.
5. the act or process of resolving or separating into constituent or elementary parts.
6. the resulting state.
7. Optics . the act, process, or capability of distinguishing between two separate but adjacent objects or sources of light or between two nearly equal wavelengths. Compare resolving power.
8. a solution, accommodation, or settling of a problem, controversy, etc.
9. Music .
a. the progression of a voice part or of the harmony as a whole from a dissonance to a consonance.
b. the tone or chord to which a dissonance is resolved.
10. reduction to a simpler form; conversion.
11. Medicine/Medical . the reduction or disappearance of a swelling or inflammation without suppuration.
12. the degree of sharpness of a computer-generated image as measured by the number of dots per linear inch in a hard-copy printout or the number of pixels across and down on a display screen.

I think that we should try to be better people at what we do everyday and work on it everyday. I can't remember what I did yesterday let alone what my 'resolution' was for this past year{get my drift?}. I understand wanting to be a better you but what is wrong with the original you? People who do it{resolutions} and stick to it-GOOD FOR YOU!! I just know & see a lot of people who are always talking resolution this resolution that and then I see them smoking a cigarette or eating a cheeseburger and dessert. I think sometimes people are unrealistic when it comes to their resolutions. If you want to loose weight & aim for 20 pounds I don't know if your going to succeed, so try for 5 and if you do it go for 5 more, if your going to work out don't shoot for 7 days a week shoot for 3 don't try and build yourself up for a fail. 'I didn't work out 7 days this week so I guess I will just stop working out!'

With myself I have never worried about weight or working out- I will exercise and watch what I eat{that pie looked delish before I ate it!} and when I walked to the garbage can to throw away the pie tin I brought along my pedometer! I don't get caught up in the small stuff, with having cancer I learned what and what not to get all riled up about and it isn't going to be that I didn't work out or I ate a piece of pie with a billion calories! It's going to be look what me and Chucky did today, we had a blast today and I hope he remembers all of these fun times like I am going to cherish them! So when you look and reflect on your life as a whole this new bright shiny untarnished new year, remember that your family isn't going to remember if you didn't work out or enjoy the dessert but they will remember you enjoying the dessert with them laughing and being you with your family!!

From my happily imperfect family Happy New Year!!
