What a weekend!

I have a lot tons of homework during the week and on the weekends so I didn't think it would be possible to get anything other then homework done, but I did! I got to do some crafting! I made this frame for a friend of a friend who had a baby girl named Summer hence the S.
I hope my instructions aren't to confusing!

Items used:
picture frame
paint- colors of your choosing
scrapbook paper, paper
mod podge
buttons, flowers, ribbon etc.
E-9000
distresser inkpad
old newspaper
Step 1:
Paint frame, I used Folk Art in Antique White & Coffee Bean
Step 2:
Cut your paper to fit your cardboard that came with your frame.
Step 3:
Mod Podge your paper to your cardboard *make sure you smooth your bubbles out before it dries*
Step 4:
Dry brush your accent color onto your frame
Step 5:
Cut out the initial or name- just make sure it fits in your frame!
Step 6:
Put your ribbon right in the center of the two pieces of paper that don't line up. You could also make one more prominent then the other one if you would like.
Step 7:
Add your flower or other accent. I took the stem off, but left the plastic piece on the bottom of the flower on, I just flipped it upside down, I also removed the other parts of the flower, applied E-9000 to the bottom plastic piece and then the other flowers.{a little goes a loooong way} I then added my button and placed a couple of heavy books ontop to weigh it down.
Step 8: Optional
Distress your paper.
Step 9:
Place it back into your frame.
Step 10:
Enjoy your work!

I didn't stop there- I made some Mod Podged clothes pins!

Items used:
clothes pins
scrapbook paper, old newspaper, etc.
mod podge
exacto knife
distressed inkpad
sand paper
sponge brush
E-9000-to apply magnets
magnets{optional}
old news paper-to work on.

Step 1:
I traced the outline of the clothes pin onto the scrap paper.{this is helpful when you have a pattern.}
Step 2:
Cut out the pattern of the clothes line with your exacto knife.
Step 3:
Put a little mod podge onto your clothes pin{a little goes a long way & you want them to dry sometime today!}
Step 4:
Add your paper to the clothes pin right on top of the mod podge and make sure you smooth it out and align it.{make it straight}
Step 5:
When they are dry- use your nail file or sand paper to make the edges so they aren't so "thick" when you look at them from the side.
Step 6:
Distress them with your ink pad
Step 7:
Add another layer of Mod Podge
Step 8:
Allow to dry & if you would like now is the time to add your magnets.
Step 9:
Admire your work!

Now onto what Chucky has been up to this weekend:

He got a new bike about 2 weeks ago and has been riding non stop;}
The first day he got it, he rode into a garbage can and was freaking out that he wrecked his bike!
Well needless to say, that was not the wreck he should have been worried about. He had an awful wreck when the friend he was riding with suddenly stopped. Chucky had no time to stop and hit right into the back of him and flew off of his bike skidding accross the black top! The whole right side of his body has road-rash!

My Friend Reached Out, Now I am Reaching Out..

My friend Lindsay better known as "Shrimp Salad Circus" has been working on a serious project with a friend of hers. Lindsay reached out to me to help spread the word about Bridges Beyond Borders a non profit that mentors young refugees. I found that Lindsay is one amazing young woman, she is kind, compassionate and willing- so it comes to no surprise to me that she would help others. Now I am reaching out to you, can you help spread the word about Lindsay's non-profit Bridges Beyon Borders? The more we are educated the more we can help, so please head on over to Lindsay's blog to learn how you can become a mentor, more about her great cause and/or donate if your able.

Lindsay said:
I have partnered with a local middle school, and we will have 15 mentors and 15 refugee students for our first semester. I am hoping to provide each student with a brand new backpack stuffed with every single item on their school supply list, and I plan to have an event every couple months to bring the refugee students, their families, and my mentors together. I have found a sponsor, Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning, to provide lots of books so that our refugee children have something to take home with them - something to call their own. These children will have the college-student mentor in their lives for an entire year, boosting their confidence, their academic achievement, and their ability to adjust to a new culture.

Are you one of those ladies?

I sure am. I am a tugger, shifter, lifter, adjuster etc. I am one of those women who will hurry and duck where nobody{i least i thought} was looking to adjust my bra. I actually hate wearing a bra because I seriously don't think that I have the right size/fit for my body. When I spot the cute bra on the rack- I keep on walking because I know that somehow it isn't going to work, wether it is too tight, to loose, they are spilling over, or my back fat is bulging out. Should shopping for a bra really be this hard? I think not!

If your like me, today may be your lucky day!

Playtex recently launched a Playtex Bra Makeover a site where women can go to apply for a bra makeover or nominate a friend. If chosen, the winner will be flown to New York to receive a Bra Makeover with style expert Alison Deyette. Deyette is a fashion and trend lifestyle expert who has been featured on Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker and TLC's Ten Years Younger, as well as in print publications including Good Housekeeping, The Washington Post, and O Magazine. Apply for your chance to win a Playtex Bra Makeover today. The last day to apply is Friday, May 21st, 2010.

The 10 winners selected for a Bra Makeover will also star in their very own webisode wherein a makeover candidate will receive a fitting with Deyette and walk away with the perfect Playtex products. A new webisode will premier on PlaytexBraMakeover.com every two weeks.

*By posting this information, I am entered into a contest to win a free bra from Playtex. I did not receive any compensation for this post and thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Tru Cherry... Cheribundi Review

Okay, I have to say that I was a bit skeptical when I was asked to review Cheribundi.

The day that Cheribundi arrived on my doorstep, I couldn't get it into he refrigerator fast enough! I stuck it into the spot on the door that makes it super cold super fast and Chucky was still asking me every 5 minutes, "Is it cold yet?" "I will let you know when it is cold okay!"
I poured Chucky a little in a cup{because I didn't want him to waste it.} He drank it down so fast and when he asked for more I was pleasantly suprised.
I took a sip at first, thinking it was going to be really tart, almost bitter. It was very delicous, with the right amount of cherry taste, zing and sweetness.

Their Story:

Sometimes it takes regular people to stumble upon a really good thing. That's how cheribundi™ was created: snacking on Montmorency tart cherries eased a regular person's back pain. This anecdotal cure was researched by food scientists at Cornell University who not only uncovered the benefits of tart cherries, but also developed a proprietary juicing process so all the cherry-goodness and nutrients could be delivered in a great tasting juice.

Whether you're trying to stay active and healthy or win a triathlon, this juice made from America's Superfruit™ will give you benefits exclusive to the round little fruit. Drink daily any one of our three varieties (Tru Cherry™, Skinny Cherry™ or Whey Cherry™) and you'll find yourself living life to the fullest, feeling on top of your game and giggling at our funny name - every day.

What they Believe In:

More. Good-for-you phytonutrients, that is. Other superfruits and juices just can't compare. Our gentle juicing process doesn't boil away nutrients - it puts them directly into the bottle.

Testing. cheribundi™ has been tested in the lab and on the playing field by amateur, college and professional athletes. The tests have revealed that a daily regimen of our cherry juice aids everyone from pro-athletes to those just trying to stay fit or active and healthy.

Nature. The abundance of cherry-goodness in cheribundi™ is all-natural. Whew! So, while you're trying to stay healthy by being active, you can rest assured that cheribundi™ is on your side and naturally helps you live an active, healthy lifestyle.

To learn more their company, beliefs, and commitment to science and the planet, visit cherrypharm.com.

Cheribundi carries 3 different types of juice, which are you?

Tru Cherry™Our original juice packed with 50 cherries. Drink it daily to get 2 servings of fruit and powerful benefits that no other fruit has. You'll feel better and live life to the fullest.

Skinny Cherry™This juice has all the powerful nutrients and benefits of our original juice, but has fewer calories and is sweetened with all-natural Stevia. Drink it daily if you're limiting calories and sugar, but still want that great cherry pie taste.

Whey Cherry™We've packed protein into this version of our cherry juice to speed recovery and make you feel better. It has all the powerful nutrients and benefits of our original juice, but with the extra advantage of protein for those who want to stay competitive.

Why I was skeptical:
A lot of companies "claim" to be made naturally, with fresh fruit etc.
When I tasted the Cheribundi Tru Cherry I was blown away not only with the taste, but the facts of Cheribundi!
To learn more about Cheribundi or to purchase, visit Cheribundi.com.

Treat it Right & It Will Treat You Right..$35 Jiffy Lube GC Giveaway

****CLOSED****
Do you take care of one of your most used and most relied upon investments- Your Vehicle?

Do you know when it's time for an oil change?
Do you know what type of oil to use?
Do you know when to get new tires?
Do you know what tread is right for the area that you live in?

-According to a recent survey from the Automotive Service Association, more than 54 percent of customers who take their vehicles for service and repair are women.

I think that it is wonderful that women are being more proactive about their vehicles, but I also think there is a lot more that we can do in the care and maintence of our vehicles.

I could go on and on about all of the things that I need to know about my car, but will spare you the agony and share some helpful info that I got at MotorOilMatters.org

Does it matter if I change my oil regularly?
•Regular oil changes are one of the most important things that can be done to help extend the life of an engine.

•Changing your oil will remove harmful contaminants and dirt that have been collected in the oil.

What does the "W" stand for in motor oil names?

•It stands for winter, not weight as many people believe.

Can I switch between conventional oil and synthetic oil?

•Switching between synthetic and conventional oil will not cause any harm to engines as long as both individual oils meet the engine manufacturer’s requirements as listed in the owner’s manual.

Motor Oil Matters- Is a web site designed to provide you with the information that you need to make an informed decision when it comes to motor oil and your vehicle. You can test your knowledge with their interactive quiz or visit their tips & advice section for answers to commonly asked questions. You can also find a Certified Motor Oil Matters store on the Motor Oil Matters website.

I recently went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change with a lot more knowledge than I had before. It made me feel really good when the technician at Jiffy Lube talked to me about tire pressure, fluids, and oil-and I knew what he was talking about!

I know one thing is for sure, if you don't take care of your car, it's not going to take care of you!

With summer upon us, I want to make sure that you are going to be safe while on vacation with your family! One lucky Ma21cuteboy reader is going to win a $35 Jiffy Lube Gift Card!

A Mother's Day Tale...

Today is a great day for mom's, not that everyday isn't a great day, but today we as taxi driver's, nurse's, referee's and mom's get to be appreciated for just being us!
I have decided to tell the story of how I became a mom on this, my 10th Mother's Day.

It is absolutely amazing how something that you never really thought you wanted changes your life in the most amazing way!

I didn’t want children, mostly because I babysat a lot and decided that kids weren’t for me. When I became pregnant with my son, I can’t honestly say that I was excited, but had come to grips with it. But once I felt him move inside of me for the first time, I was smitten. He helped me to realize that my life would change- for the better!

I was getting everything ready, every paycheck I bought diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets and a piece of furniture.

I ended up having my son at 28 weeks, I was more unprepared for his arrival than I could have ever imagined.

I couldn’t return any of the clothing for preemie sizes because it had all been washed, ironed and put away, the diapers I would need eventually, financially I was over budget, emotionally beaten and yet had this beautiful little baby to make all of those fears fade away, with new ones to surface- is he going to survive, how did this happen, what did I do wrong, how am I going to get through this?

Luckily my lil’ monkey was a fighter, one month and one day after being born I got to bring all 3 pounds of him home in the ugliest doll outfit ever{they didn’t make a lot of preemie clothes back then.} It wasn’t all up hill from there I am sad to say, it was often like climbing a mountain. getting to the peak to then find an even bigger mountain. He wasn’t even home for a week and he was back in the hospital with pneumonia. Getting up at 3:00 a.m. once a month to drive him 2 1/2 hours to the University to get RSV shots, dealing with developmental delays, physical therapy, occupational therapy, gaining weight, just getting him healthier and stronger was and is a feat in itself.

My son is now 10 1/2 years old, he is almost as tall as I am and is smart as a whip. He just learned to ride a bike, hop on one foot, jump rope, run in a straight line and a great lot of other things he wasn’t able to do before.

I am just so proud of the young man that he is becoming and just to think… I didn’t want any children. The love of a child is like nothing you’ve ever felt and will feel again.

Our experiences differ from mother to mother but one thing is the same… we love our children unconditionally and with all our hearts!

Cheers to all of the moms, grandmas, sisters and friends, Happy Mother’s Day, and the best are yet to come!

The BABIES are coming..

In my last post about BABIES I mostly focused on how they are esscentially the same, yet living in different worlds. Today I not only want to remind you that BABIES comes out on Mother's Day, May 9th, but to also remind us all how much we take advantage of being Mom's. I know that sounds rude, or bad- but I honestly don't mean it like that!
I look around me and think of how I miss when Chucky was a certain age, when he learned to babble, smile, talk, laugh, and think to myself that I took all of these great once in a lifetime moment's for granted. Was I always there? I don't mean physically, but mentally, emotionally. I remember all of these great moments that seem to fade with each passing day and only stay alive in pictures. Did I do my best? I don't know and may always second guess myself. Did I always do the right things? Maybe not. Do I love my son? Without a doubt. Could I have been there more? You bet! I should have turned off the television, not taken the phone call, and even just sat there on the floor with him when he learned to roll over, instead of doing the laundry, washing dishes or something that is not all to memorable. I know that I didn't mean to do it, I guess I just thought Chucky and I would have plenty of time to spend together for the rest of our lives, yet that isn't always the case. We lose our children to our computers, televisions, laundry, dishes and other activities that seem more important- but are not!
When I think of Mother's Day, I think of having breakfast in bed, letting someone else {definately not me} taking care of Chucky while I get to spend a little time to myself- after all it is Mother's Day right? Well that is not my thinking anymore, I am not only going to spend it with the lil' man who has made me a mom, but I am going to take Chucky to see BABIES on Mother's Day. It would be a great opprotunity to make more memories, but to also let Chucky see how different others' lives are, and yet see just how much a mother loves her children unconditionally.
I hope that you all will spend Mother's Day with your children making memoreis and also check out BABIES!
I included a theatrical theater in this post so you can see how much we are alike as mothers!

*I am a buzzagent, and am participating in the BABIES ambassador program, in which case I am entered to into a sweepstakes for my participation. I was not compenated in any way for this post. The opinions expressed are my own and other's experiences may differ.*
