Blog Mania '11 Sponsor- Amy Cornwell Designs
As a woman, mom, sister, friend, and daughter I absolutely love jewelry that is given from the ♥. When I came across Amy Cornwell Designs I was super excited to not only purchase her items for myself but for others as gifts. To me there is nothing better than receiving a gift from someone who has put a lot of thought into the gift they are giving and nothing better than buying from someone who loves what they do!
Amy is a married mother of two. She started her love of jewelry making in the 1990's but it wasn't until 2003 that she attended jewelry party and decided that she could make the items herself. She then started having home shows and in 2004 made it official-she licensed her business with the IRS and eventually opened her store at AmyCornwell.com she was selling beaded jewelry and metal tins. She started a meta lsmithing class in 2005 to expand her craft and in 2007 decided to try stamped jewelry and this is where her business really took off. Christmas 2009 was the first year she needed assistants to help her get through the busy season of processing and shipping orders daily. In 2010 Amy started doing more metalsmithing work with soldering and more complex pieces. She hired her first employee in 2010 as well.
Amy's Heirloom Collection is a grouping of pieces that are just that 'Heirloom Pieces.' You can buy one for your grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, friend and know that it is going to last and be treasured for years to come. Not only are Amy's pieces customizable but affordable for every budget.
Amy has a wide variety of beautiful pieces to choose from whether your planning a wedding, need a gift for the special man in your life or want to pamper yourself because you deserve it, you can find it or Amy can design it!
Amy is a very giving person, she has an awesome blog where she showcases her newest designs as well as very talented people from around blog land and some tutorials of her own. It's also where she shares her space, her life and love for her family.
I am really excited that Amy Cornwell Designs is one of the sponsors for Blog Mania '11 and one lucky Ma21cuteboy reader will win a $25 gift certificate to spend at Amy's online store!!

Apothica.com Review + Giveaway
**CLOSED**
As women and especially mother's it's hard to find time for us! Let me introduce you to Apothica.com. Apothica.com is a place where you can 'Beautify for You!' Apothica.com is an online beauty boutique, which carries the finest selection of skin care, body care, aromatherapy, and cosmetic products on the market today, including the most natural, organic products available. They are dedicated to providing you with high quality products formulated to promote and enhance your natural beauty.I received the Laura Gellar Baked and Beautiful Kit. The kit contains Spackle Under Make-Up Primer, Medium Balance-n-Bronze, Apricot Berry Blush-n-Brighten, Apricot Berry Dream Creams Lip Palette, Bewitching Bronze Eye Rimz, a lip brush, eye liner brush and a double ended application brush.
When I first tried the make up I didn't realize that you had to be pretty light-haded with the application. I looked like Snooki!!
Laura Gellar is a true innovator in the world of cosmetics. Her interest in makeup bagan at an early age and translated into a career as one of the industry's top makeup artists. Operating under the idea that women wanting to look their best doesn't necessairily mean following the latest trends, Gellar creates products with inviting and wearable colors.
By pioneering a new category in makeup with her 'Baked' collection, Gellar's line of cosmetics has an almost cult-like following. Baking saturated colors in terrecotta pans for 24 hours creates rich textures and breathable coverage. It has a marbled effect and is able to be used on so many different skin tones and textures. Laura Gellar cosmetics is unique and will leave you with a glowing and smooth complexion.
Once I got the hang of how to apply the makeup I thought, '
There were tips and suggestions on how to apply each piece of the kit. For someone who only wore mascara this was very beneficial, useful, and very handy. Because of the baking and marbled effect you can mix and match pieces, so your able to use the Balance-n-Bronze as eye shadow or as another eyeliner. Your really getting the best bang for your buck with these items.
Apothica not only carries Laura Gellar, Napoleon Perdis, Becca Makeup, Hourglass Cosmetics, and Oscar Blandi as well as many other favorite brands!

Purse Brite Review + Giveaway
**CLOSED**
Do you love handbags? I do, and I am not ashamed of it! What I am ashamed of, is the inside of my handbag. It's in no way pleasing to look at or go through trying to find something. Luckily there is a solution to my problem and yours if you have a handbag that is 'unorganized' like mine!
'Purse Brite' is an economical way to keep your handbag organized, functional and more pleasing to look through. 'Purse Brite' has 5 large pockets two of which are expandable making it easier to fit larger items such as sunglasses, cell phones, cameras, smaller video cameras, or anything else that is too large and awkward to be placed in the regular pockets but keeps them there snug and secure. One of the five larger pockets is divided into a top and bottom pocket, it's like two pockets in one! You can place your work ID or another card that you use often in there for easy access. Besides the five large pockets there is another larger one with a hook and loop closure, one smaller for loose change, one larger for dollar bills, a credit or debit card. I loved that it held my change and wasn't falling to the bottom of my bag. There are also two pen slots, three slots for either lipstick or lip gloss and a larger slot for readers or a granola bar. There is also a key fob on the corner of the 'Purse Brite' it's convenient so your not digging around looking for your keys. That's a lot of storage 'around' your bag and leaves so much room in the center for a wallet or anything else you'd like to put in there. Once I organized everything into the 'Purse Brite' I thought my handbag looked really bare, but it wasn't it was just organized! If you have children whether they are younger or older you carry around a lot of their things as well. I often find a car or two in the bottom of my bag and find myself carrying around a handheld gaming device with all of the games. With the 'Purse Brite' your able to transfer all of your items from bag to bag; in seconds! Your everyday handbag can be put into a diaper bag or vice versa without having to carry around a lot of bags. As women and moms it's a way to make our lives easier and who doesn't like easier?
'Purse Brite' is an 'As Seen On TV' product that works great! If you've ever seen the infomercial and thought, 'I sure could use that,' or 'I don't think I need one of those.' Your wrong on this one. I don't know how I got along without it for this long. I chose the beige because I feel like it coordinates well with the handbags that I already own and will purchase in the future. The attention to detail is amazing.
The 'Purse Brite' comes in three different color choices, Pink, Beige and Coal/light black. It also comes with a 'Purse Brite' Light, 5x Magnification Lighted Mirror and 'Luma Tweeze'. The 'Purse Brite Light' is absolutely amazing especially if your using a deeper bag or tote. It lit up my bag amazingly well, it is bright, compact and has two different functions-one that you can push to use quickly or one to push and keep it on for a few minutes.(I have to admit I used it one night to finish reading a book!) The 'Luma Tweeze' has a light and a magnification arm that swings in and out so your able to use it with or without magnification. I didn't care for the 'Luma Tweeze,' it's a great concept but just didn't work well for my needs. I love the magnified mirror! One side has the 5x magnification and the other is a regular mirror. The only thing I would change is having both sides of the mirror lighted. If your using the regular mirror you get light but when your using the 5x magnification you have to adjust the mirror to see with the light. I can't believe all of the hairs I had been leaving behind(GASP!).
Buy It:

Pretty Neat Book Review + $200 Gift Card Giveaway
**CLOSED**
'It seems to be a fact of life today that we put ourselves last on the priority list. There's just too much to do and not enough time to do it, so we're often forced to make hard choices, generally under the pressure of immediate deadlines.'
I was recently given the opportunity to read and review the book Pretty Neat the buttoned-up way to get organized & let go of perfection. Now I would consider myself to be pretty organized but in a different way. I have piles of receipts, papers and other stuff that just need to be filed away. If you asked me where a certain paper or receipt was I could get it for you!
Pretty Neat is a book written by Alicia Rockmore & Sarah Welch who are busy women just like you & me who feel that we often times hold ourselves to an org-porn way of organizing. If your not certain as to what the heck I am talking about I will show you!
This first room is what we wish our rooms looked like.
The second room is a room that I have learned to deal with in my own way....one step at a time!
In this book they help you let go of perfection and strive for real life! Don't get me wrong here, the book isn't about how we(those of us who aren't Martha Stewart)need to be organized, it's a book on how to let go of stressing out on being organized and to find out which organizing strategy is best for you and your family! This is one of my favorite sections in the book.
Develop Your Own Meaning Of Organized
Our goal in this section is to help you define it in a way that will enable you to do a better job of managing the things you love to do, not do more organizing. Taking charge may feel strange at first-old habits die hard. But it is worth the effort. It's tempting to define organizational solutions tactically, such as 'set up a filing system' or 'get toy bins.' But unless you take the time to (1) identify your real organizational issues, (2) understand the root causes of those issues, and (3) consciously arrive at a clear understanding of a 'good enough' goal, you're likely to fall back into your old habits.
I also feel that often times we see or know people who seem so put together-right? Well have you looked in their closets, behind their closed doors? I know a lot of people who will have the main rooms of their home looking like it was pulled from a spread in House Beautiful, only to be shocked when I opened the closet and saw all of their main living areas clutter shoved into the closet!
My problem area is my craft room. I have a lot of scrapbook paper, tools, sewing notions, fabric, and okay I will be totally honest, it's a catch-all for stuff that nobody knows where to put. Not to mention it doubles as a guest room!!!
I try to keep it organized by putting things away as soon as buy it or get it, place things into their bins, keep like things together, for instance all of my sewing supplies are all in one area, all of my scrapping supplies are in bins or in another area together. The only thing that I struggle with now is my fabric. I am learning to sew and have all this fabric that has to be stored right or could ruin. I have some organizing ideas in mind but have to be practical in the small space that I have. I may not have it all put together right now, but I am working on getting it where I want it to be, in my own way and on my own time!
I am going to be totally honest with you(again)and tell you that I might have passed this book up on the shelf. ONLY because I would have thought it was another book on how to organize in someone else's 'perfect way,' which in reality doesn't exist, or give me some good eye candy to look at but doesn't really fit my life and lifestyle! It was a great book that didn't take long to read, it is filled with 'Pretty Neat Tips,' 'Pretty Neat Wisdom,' & 'Pretty Neat Exercises.' that will help you on your way to YOUR ORGANIZED PERFECT! It has helped me to look at my life and my organized chaos andthink know that it looks, feels and is 'Pretty Neat!'

-What do you think of the whole .com issue? Does it make you seem more 'devoted' if you have a .com rather than a free host such as .blogspot?
-Vlogging. I have some vlogging in the works; want to do more of it. What do you like in a vlog & don't you like in a vlog?
-Recipes. I love to cook, and have to or else my son may just shrivel up and die! Do you like when I post them, do you want to see more, what kinds would you like to see?
As I stated your opinions would be very helpful and are very much needed, would I be asking if I didn't want them? Please let me know what you all want, don't want or just hate. I love to blog and love to hear your comments. C'mon you all are the reason I have this blog and the amazing opportunities. Please don't feel like you will hurt my feelings, I love constructive criticism and feel like it will make my blog better not only for me but for you as well.
To encourage you all to leave your opinions I am going to do a giveaway!!

BlogMania Sponsor-Batty's Bath
If you've been reading my blog for a while or are just tuning in, I ♥ Batty's Bath!
She makes some of the most amazing handmade soaps, shampoos, lip balms, deodorants and so much more! I have made some purchases from her and have NOT been disappointed. I even got my 9 year old nephew hooked! He has eczema and the skin on his hands has gotten really dry to the point of almost bleeding. So I contacted Jamie, she made a suggestion and I went with it and my nephew is in heaven with soft skin and great smelling lotions for his hands and body.
Jamie is always creating and making items for her shop. She has recently released her 100% Natural Cold Press Soaps. They are made from scratch using old world techniques and ingredients. There are no short cuts when it comes to the cold press method. These soaps take weeks to cure but are well worth the wait.
Batty's Bath handmade method of soap making ensures that the most amount of glycerin possible is retained unlike commercial soap making. Retaining the glycerin makes a softer, milder soap which is emollient and moisturizing to the skin.
Batty's Bath Cold Press Soap is ideal for those with sensitive skin, for conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis or anyone allergic to commercial soap because they don't strip the skin of it's natural beneficial oils. Isn't the packaging stunning?
Along with the release of her 100% Natural Cold Press Soaps, she has an amazing Facial Rescue Kit.
Since being diagnosed with cancer, I have skin like a high school teenager and it isn't getting any better, I am thrilled to know that Batty's Bath offers something that isn't going to be harsh on my skin and will not only clear it up but keep it clear! Whether you suffer from breakouts, scars from previous acne breakouts or uneven skin tone now is the time to change your skin care regiment!
With the Facial Rescue Kit, it will get you started on the path to figuring out what your skin needs to keep it healthy, smooth and glowing!
Products in the kit:
-Patchouli Facial Moisturizer:
Known for it's unique ability to combat skin irritations, acne & inflammation.
-Facial Primer & Day Moisturizer:
Contains 3 natural clays that are each added for specific skin loving reasons.
1st clay is used to add 'slip' making it a good primer, giving your skin a super smooth & soft texture so makeup goes on flawlessly without getting 'caught' on imperfections, dry spots or fine lines.
2nd clay is added to improve the overall state of your skin by working to reduce dryness & flakiness, while improving clarity & tone.
3rd clay is added to combat skin imperfections such as excess oil, break outs & scars.
-Clay Mask(dry formula):
Gives you an extra boost of clay benefits because it is highly concentrated. It is picked for it's known ability to calm break outs, reduce redness, diminish the look of scars & is the strongest of all the clays for detoxification. Minerals in the clay help rebalance oil flow & strengthen the skin.
-Mineral Makeup Concealing Powder:
Conceals scars, redness, blemishes, dark eye circles, black heads and other imperfections.
Made with 100% natural ingredients, doesn't contain nano or micronized minerals, perfume, parabens, dyes, bismuth, oxychloride or talc.
The Facial Rescue Kit retails for $26. That's a steal knowing it is all natural and isn't going to be harsh on your skin like other acne treatments.
I am really excited that Batty's Bath is one of the sponsors for BlogMania and one lucky Ma21cuteboy reader will win a $20 gift certificate to the shop!!

$100 MAZE Cord Blood Banking Giveaway{2 Winners}
**CLOSED**
Pregnant mothers everywhere will agree with me when I say how exciting being an expectant mom is. Dreaming of what & who they will look like, what the gender of the baby will be, what color to paint the nursery, what his or her name is going to be? You don't often think of the bad things that could happen, although you think of how painful the delivery will be and sometimes 'what if something goes wrong?' When I had Chucky I was scared to death! I thought positive and yet still didn't or couldn't hope and pray enough because at 28 weeks my little miracle was born. I got a lot of bad news and a lot of good news but couldn't bring myself to imagine the worst. When Chucky was born they didn't have cord blood banking and if they did I didn't know anything about it and don't know of anybody who did. When you don't know what's going on, what to expect or are just interested in something what do we do, we do research.
What is a cord blood bank?
It is a laboratory that stores your child's umbilical cord blood. The blood collected from the umbilical cord immediately following the birth of a child. This blood is provided nourishment for the baby during pregnancy, but once the baby is delivered umbilical cord blood is no longer necessary for the baby. Umbilical cord blood is rich in multi potent hematopoietic stem cells(or blood stem cells). These cord blood stem cells produce the cellular ingredients necessary for the blood and the immune system. When the umbilical cord blood cells are transplanted into patients, they can help restore the immune and blood systems to help fight diseases and replace diseased blood.
How does Saving Cord Blood & Cord Blood Storage work?
Immediately after the baby's birth, a physician or nurse will collect one bag of umbilical cord blood, which is approximately 150 ml. or 5 oz.
The cord blood will be collected after the umbilical cord has been cut and either before or after the placenta has been delivered. Therefore, there is absolutely no risk to you or your baby.
•Additionally, the physician will draw three tubes of the mother's blood for testing.
•You, or your partner, will notify us that the cord blood collection is done; then a medical courier will be sent to the hospital.
•A medical courier will bring the cord blood collection kit containing the cord blood and the mother's blood to M.A.Z.E. Cord Blood Laboratories.
In the lab, the technician will:
•Reduce the volume of the blood to about one quarter of the collected volume (approximately 25 ml or 63 oz.) by removing a large proportion of the red blood cells and plasma (liquid portion of the blood). The red blood cells and plasma do not need to be stored as they do not contain stem cells.
•Analyze the cord blood to determine how many transplantable cells are present and create a report with this information. This information will be useful in case you need to use the cord blood later.
•Add cryopreservative (special chemicals to help in the freezing process) to the remaining stem cell collection.
•Slowly chill the bag at a rate of 1º centigrade (C) per minute until it reaches the optimal freezing temperature of -130º C (-320º Fahrenheit).
•Transfer the stem cell collection into storage.
•Run the mother's blood through a wide variety of tests to ensure that there are no diseases present at the time of delivery that could have transferred to the child's cord blood.
Chucky is doing amazing and yet I am still terrified not knowing if he will get cancer and if one day he could have used his umbilical cord blood to help save his life. I think that as parents no matter what happens we can beat ourselves up over all of the 'what ifs,' and the story of baby John is an example of how cord blood banking could help not only save the life of your child but also others in your family.
If you choose to use a cord blood bank these are some of the diseases that can be treated:
- Cerebral Palsy
- Leukemia
- Myelodysplastic Syndrome: Sometimes called Pre-Leukemia
- Lymphomas
- Inherited Red Cell(Erythrocyte)Abnormalities
- Other Disorders of Blood Cell Proliferation
- Bone Marrow Cancers
- Other Cancers
Buy It:
If your thinking of saving cord blood, MAZE Cord Blood Laboratories is an affordable cord blood bank. They offer nationwide delivery and no additional storage charges.

Kat McGivern Review & Giveaway
**CLOSED**
Kat McGivern is a sassy, spunky, fun and talented musician. She not only sings, plays guitar and the keyboard, she is an awesome songwriter too. She is Boston based and started her career at 13, performing at local mic nights. Kat taught herself traditional Gaelic ballads and shortly after started classical training. She eventually abandoned classical music and college to record her first album. She then quit music for two years to go back to school and realized that it was music she loved.
'Kamikaze Heart' was released November 23, 2010 along with 7 other songs. 'Kamikaze Heart' is about her inability to walk away from the things she loves. It reached the Top 10 on FMQB's AC Top 40 chart.
Kat said, 'I see myself a bohemian Judy Jetson with a bad attitude,' and that's how I would describe her and her music. Bohemian but with a good attitude! Her unique sound is what makes me love her and her music.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion Review & Giveaway
**CLOSED**
As we get older our skins elasticity isn't what it used to be. The skin becomes thinner and therefore loses it's moisture, starts to become dry, flaky and can even become itchy. It isn't something we should be embarrassed about but we often are.
I started getting dry skin on and around the scar on my upper arm and it won't go away. Yeah I am sure people will understand but I get enough people staring at it without drawing more attention to it! ![]() |
| Before using Skin MD Natural. |
I was recently sent a bottle of Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion to try out. I was a little hesitant and must admit when I first put it on didn't really like the watery texture and thought it would just stay on my hands like a greasy watery lotion, but it didn't. Shortly after rubbing it on, it soaked into my skin and I felt as though I had a layer or 'shield' that was protecting my skin. I don't have the dry skin on or around my scar anymore and it actually feels a lot better. I also have a c-section scar that itches like crazy and it often times feels as though it's going to tear open. I place some of the Skin MD Natural Shielding lotion on it after I get out of the shower and don't get that feeling anymore. Needless to say, I found a new part of my skin care routine.
![]() |
| After using Skin MD Natural |
Skin MD Natural shielding lotion does the real work to prevent dry skin in two ways.
First, it assists the inner layers of skin to absorb moisture. The humectant(an ingredient that attracts moisture)used in Skin MD Natural is unique that it has been laboratory tested to be 6 times more effective than any other you will find in common creams.
Second, a shielding lotion enhances the power of the op layer of the skin to resist environmental irritants while protecting the inner natural moisture.
This can be a big benefit for those who work in the medical profession, cook, garden wash dishes or are constantly washing their hands because Skin MD Natural helps skin retain its natural moisture and oils in the face of all those irritating soaps and chemicals.
What dermatologists say:
"By using a shielding lotion that bonds with the outer layer of your skin you can keep irritants out and moisture in. Most moisturizers do not seal in the body's own moisture, they artificially lubricate the outer layers of skin. When they wear off, the lubrication is gone and the original dryness remains. Sometimes this process will draw out the body's natural moisture and contribute to the skin's dehydration," writes Dr. Peter Helton, a board-certified dermatologist specializing in cosmetic dermatology.
"A conventional lotion is not formulated to protect the skin like a shielding lotion does. Conventional lotions only add surface moisture to temporarily alleviate the dryness or itching. Shielding lotions are an effective dry-skin treatment because they bond with the skin and protect it for long periods of time. With this protection in place your skin keeps its own moisture in and has a chance to use this natural moisture in the deep layers of the skin to heal itself," states Dr. Lisa Benest, a board certified dermatologist of Burbank, CA.
Skin MD Natural is not only for dry skin it's also used to address severe dry skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. People with sensitive skin and those of us who like to live naturally will appreciate that Skin MD Natural is hypoallergenic, free of fragrances, parabens and colorants. It is made with more than 90% natural ingredients and 100% food-grade ingredients that are on he FDA's 'most safe' list.
