Etsy Feature-Fire & Stone Jewelry by KD + Giveaway!!!

**CLOSED**

**UPDATE: I am going to leave this open for a few more days {1/6}**
Okay I know that this is just a little late for Christmas but how awesome would it be as a gift for right after?!?!
Fire & Stone Jewelry by KD is one of my fave Etsy shops! Katie not only makes all of the molds for her jewelry but she also searches for the jewels with her husband! So when you purchase from Fire & Stone Jewelry by KD you know you are going to get a magnificent piece that she not only loves but that you will love too!

I got to ask Katie a few questions about the shop, her inspiration and designs{YAY}!!
What made you want to open your shop?

I researched different ways to share the jewelry I was making with a larger group of people. Etsy was perfect for me.

What is best or your favorite part of making jewelry?

Besides the adrenaline of playing with fire it's the simple idea of creation. During the soldering process the silver can look quite ugly. There is an excitement while working that this ugly piece of metal will soon be worn to compliment a person’s style.

How do you find & create your pieces?

I buy a majority of my stones in their raw form. Usually, I find these in small town rock shops. The stones are first put into a saw that cuts them into slabs, then I choose a section I like and it is cut out with a tile saw. My husband helps me with this stone process, we both have fun! After a rough shape is cut from the slab it is finished off on a lapidary machine. My silver work mainly starts in a sketchbook but sometimes adrenaline takes over on the torch and I'll make things up as I go.

What is a favorite piece that you've created past or present?

My favorite piece so far is a ring I made from actual coffee beans. Using the Lost Wax process I cast 5 coffee beans with Sterling Silver. After casting I soldered them together so it looked like a large flower.

What is your creative process like?
My creation process happens in many different ways. Sometimes I’m inspired by a stone, sometimes it happens while sketching, and other times it happens in the midst of a playful mistake.
