Are You Ready to Be Funkdified?

**CLOSED**
When Chucky and I received Recess Monkey's new CD "The Final Funktier" to review, we were literally blown away! I was cooking dinner and unfortunately wasn't able to sit down with my son and listen to the songs with him. Yet am kinda glad that I wasn't because I could hear him upstairs in his room singing and when I went up to check on him I peeked through the crack in the door and saw him not only singing, but dancing! To me that says a lot about Recess Monkey and their music!

{Sorry about the quality of the pic, he was dancing!}

 The first time I was able to listen to the CD in it's entirety we were in the car and Chucky quickly flipped it to the song that he wanted me to listen to first, which was "Science Fair." When it ended, I went to change it to the beginning of the CD so we can listen to the whole thing, he got mad at me and flipped it to the next song he wanted me to listen to which was "Beat-Box-a-Robot." I glanced over at him and he was singing and moving to the music.
I didn't think I was listening to children's songs, the music is hip, fresh, fun, very catchy and suited for children and family alike. I am utterly impressed by their talent.

We were also able to review Flute Sweet & Tickletoon in Green Golly & her Golden Flute by Keith Torgan & Barbara Siesel. It is an amazing mix of classical music, story telling and comedy.
A little about Green Golly & Her Golden Flute: {taken from the website}

Green Golly & Her Golden Flute

Rapunzel may have been horrified to spend her days trapped in that big old tower but not Green Golly – she was delighted! So inspired by all that whizzed past her window she couldn’t help but make music. Herein lies the charm of “Green Golly & Her Golden Flute” – this funny and extraordinarily musical event, featuring the music of Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Gossec, Elgar, Bizet, Chopin and Copland, introduces children to the art of flute and the magic of classical music.“Green Golly” is also available in a version for flute, narrator and full orchestra.

Chucky and I found Green Golly & Her Golden Flute to be fun, funny and very entertaining. I don't know where or how my son became a lover of classical and opera music, but it is just fine with me!

Not only is the story of Green Golly & Her Golden Flute fun, funny and entertaining, so is the story of the creators Barbara Siesel and Keith Torgan. It's a little bit of a fairytale if you will.
Once Upon A Time....
 It would be a while before the two would meet and fall in love. They both grew up to be lovers of music, theatre and instruments.

Keith went on from working as a composer at the very much-acclaimed Williamstown Theatre Festival to composing the score fora show starring Blythe Danner{Gwenyth Paltrow's mom} to founding Sneakers, The Music Company for Kids. He then took a 6 year break.

Barbara was playing her flute in concert halls all accross the world such as Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, The Great Hall, and many other halls accross China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Spain. She had such a passion for new music that she created a festical called The Storm King Music Festival where new works by composers could be introduced to the world for the first time. Barbara later realized that she had a natural gift for teaching.

Keith while on his hiatus from music worked at a car lot singing hingles about the cars he was selling and even more clever songs about the customers. Yet the car lot serenades weren't enough to keep him awake at night. One evening he went on a computer dating site and found a women who who had traveled the world making music with her flute. He was so enamered that he requested a meeting.

As they say, it was love at first sight!

They shared their music with eachother and thus is how the performing duo of Flute Swee & Tickletoon came to life.

And They Live Happily Ever After!

If you enjoy reading books with your child, you will absolutely love listening to Green Golly & Her Golden Flute with them. If you would like more information about Keith Torgan & Barbara Siesel's music you can visit their website here: http: http://tugboatmusic.com/

What a weekend!

I have a lot tons of homework during the week and on the weekends so I didn't think it would be possible to get anything other then homework done, but I did! I got to do some crafting! I made this frame for a friend of a friend who had a baby girl named Summer hence the S.
I hope my instructions aren't to confusing!

Items used:
picture frame
paint- colors of your choosing
scrapbook paper, paper
mod podge
buttons, flowers, ribbon etc.
E-9000
distresser inkpad
old newspaper
Step 1:
Paint frame, I used Folk Art in Antique White & Coffee Bean
Step 2:
Cut your paper to fit your cardboard that came with your frame.
Step 3:
Mod Podge your paper to your cardboard *make sure you smooth your bubbles out before it dries*
Step 4:
Dry brush your accent color onto your frame
Step 5:
Cut out the initial or name- just make sure it fits in your frame!
Step 6:
Put your ribbon right in the center of the two pieces of paper that don't line up. You could also make one more prominent then the other one if you would like.
Step 7:
Add your flower or other accent. I took the stem off, but left the plastic piece on the bottom of the flower on, I just flipped it upside down, I also removed the other parts of the flower, applied E-9000 to the bottom plastic piece and then the other flowers.{a little goes a loooong way} I then added my button and placed a couple of heavy books ontop to weigh it down.
Step 8: Optional
Distress your paper.
Step 9:
Place it back into your frame.
Step 10:
Enjoy your work!

I didn't stop there- I made some Mod Podged clothes pins!

Items used:
clothes pins
scrapbook paper, old newspaper, etc.
mod podge
exacto knife
distressed inkpad
sand paper
sponge brush
E-9000-to apply magnets
magnets{optional}
old news paper-to work on.

Step 1:
I traced the outline of the clothes pin onto the scrap paper.{this is helpful when you have a pattern.}
Step 2:
Cut out the pattern of the clothes line with your exacto knife.
Step 3:
Put a little mod podge onto your clothes pin{a little goes a long way & you want them to dry sometime today!}
Step 4:
Add your paper to the clothes pin right on top of the mod podge and make sure you smooth it out and align it.{make it straight}
Step 5:
When they are dry- use your nail file or sand paper to make the edges so they aren't so "thick" when you look at them from the side.
Step 6:
Distress them with your ink pad
Step 7:
Add another layer of Mod Podge
Step 8:
Allow to dry & if you would like now is the time to add your magnets.
Step 9:
Admire your work!

Now onto what Chucky has been up to this weekend:

He got a new bike about 2 weeks ago and has been riding non stop;}
The first day he got it, he rode into a garbage can and was freaking out that he wrecked his bike!
Well needless to say, that was not the wreck he should have been worried about. He had an awful wreck when the friend he was riding with suddenly stopped. Chucky had no time to stop and hit right into the back of him and flew off of his bike skidding accross the black top! The whole right side of his body has road-rash!
